Craft Beer Gifts for the Hipster

Everyone knows one. Heck, you might even be one! I am married to one! Finding the perfectly cool gift for the hipster in your life is always a difficult task because a real hipster hates anything that might be considered “trendy” or “fashionable.”

There are a few things that we do know about the hipster. They pride themselves on rare finds, earlier albums, direct-trade coffee, vintage t-shirts, flannels, beard stroking, gluten-free anything but beer, drinking craft beer at their local brewery or craft beer festival.

Without even meaning to, mostly because our entire Barley & Hops Craft Candle family is at least 1/2 hipster, we created the perfect gift for the hipster.

Artisan Craft Beer Candles

Let me explain. First of all, only a craft beer loving hipster or craft beer brewer would think a craft beer candle could smell good.  They don’t immediately assume, that just because a candle has the word “beer” in the description,  it must smell awful. They know this is a ridiculous assumption because they know what ingredients are used in brewing a good, solid artisan beer. Words and phrases such as; crème Brule, roasted coffee, brown sugar, burnt sugar, floral, citrusy, fruity, hazelnut, beechnut, chocolate, vanilla bean, malt, and much more for praising the perfect brew! Our candles DO NOT smell like stale, cheap, and watered-down gas station beer. Our candles DO NOT smell like college frat party beer soaked basements. For our artisan craft beer candles, we “pull” out the aromas and elements that compliment the brew, and leave behind any of the yeasty or bitter smells.

Hipsters might hate everything, but we think we have a pretty good idea of what they want.

DIY Beer Lover’s Gift Basket – Under $75

1. Get a basket. Pick up the perfect basket at your neighborhood Goodwill/Secondhand Store. Baskets of all shapes, sizes, and colors can be found lining the shelves in the home decorating section. ($3)
2. Stuff it. I love this stuff. It is affordable, recycled and perfect for a more masculine gift basket. ($2.50)
3. It’s craft beer-30.Visit your local liquor store and ask if they have a “Pick 6” section. If they do, you can choose a variety of 6 different craft brews for your “beer lover’s gift basket.” ($8)
4. On the prowl for a GROWL-er. You can purchase a 64 oz or 32 oz growler at your favorite brewery or you can order one online! ($2.50 – $4.00)
5. Get carded. (gift carded that is) While you are at your local brewery picking up the growler, purchase a $10-$15 gift card so he can fill it with his favorite brew! ($10-15)
